OFFICIALS TRAINING- TUESDAY OCT. 21 @ 6:30 St. George

2014/15  HIGH SCHOOL SWIM OFFICIALS TRAINING

We are excited to have a new swim season upon us, and to get our swim clinics underway.
We all want our swimmers to have a great experience and to ensure our meets go well we need to have plenty of Swim Officials trained to run our meets.  It is required that you take a clinic each year to certify as a High School Swim Official. Each clinic listed below will teach a Stroke and Turn portion (2.5 hours) and a Starter Referee portion (1 hour). Everyone must attend the stroke and turn portion of the clinic, but only those who will be a Starter or a Referee need to stay for the last hour of class.  You must be at least 18 years of age and NOT a High School student to become an official.

**We will have two in water Demonstration Classes this year. One in Park City and one in Lehi. For those who are new or fairly new to the sport or would like some more hands on training please attend one of these clinics. **

Once you have completed a clinic your name will be put on the Officials List for the 2014-15 Season and will be posted on the Web site www.utswimcoach.com with their certification class. Coaches will run their meets from the list of certified officials or the meet will be invalid.  Please make sure all your bases are covered, that your people attend the training they need. We have varied the dates to try to accommodate everyone. Make sure you have enough certified people to run your home meets. We will also notate those certified officials who are willing to work outside of their team.

Cost for a Clinic is $20.00.  Checks can be made payable to UHSSOA (Utah High School Swim Officials Association.) Payment may be made when you check in at the start of the clinic. Coaches need to make arrangements with Robyn if they are paying for all their officials. Sorry we will not be able to allow anyone to go through the training without payment prior to the class starting.

You will need to RSVP to the class you will be attending five days prior to class. Each class will be capped to ensure proper instruction. You will receive a confirmation back from the instructor. If the class is full you will have to choose another location. Also if you can’t attend a class you have already RSVP to please e-mail the instructor to cancel so your spot will be given to someone else. We need your name, school affiliation, phone # and an e-mail address so check in will go smoothly. Please arrive early enough to check in and get your materials, so class can start on time. Please NO late comers.
Certification will be the same as in past years for this season.

If you have questions you may call or e-mail Robyn Peterson at 801-404-6994  robynvpeterson@gmail.com

Officials uniform will be khaki pants (shorts or skirt) and a navy polo style shirt.

Swim Officials Shirt Order

We are offering a Swim Officials shirt you may purchase for $25.00
There are men’s and women’s sizes. It is a nice Tec shirt pictured below. It is the same shirt the officials wore at the State High School Meets last season. You do not have to order one, a plain navy polo will do. I would need your order by September the 24th to ensure they can be picked up at the clinic you are attending. USA officials that want to order a shirt may do so and we will make sure it gets to you since they will not be done for your clinic.
